American Cheese Singles, which are individually – wrapped slices of American cheese, are a type of product that I use on a regular basis. Two of the most well -known brands, each of which I utilize frequently, are Kraft American Singles and Land O Lakes American Singles. These two brands of American Cheese Singles are very comparable in size, appearance, price and flavor. I find many uses for these products, including the making of grilled cheese sandwiches, on English muffin pizzas, atop other types of sandwiches and as a cracker topping.
When I looked in my refrigerator a few days ago and noticed that opened packages of each of these brands of American Cheese Singles were sitting side by side, I decided to write a product comparison review of the two items. Presented here, in an effort to benefit the consumer, is one food writer’s product comparison review of Kraft American Singles and Land O Lakes American Singles.

The only size of Land O Lakes American Singles that I have seen and the only size I can find while researching the product is their 12 ounce package. This package contains 16 slices of cheese.

In physical size, all of the afore – mentioned packages of cheese are fairly compact and do not take up excessive space in the refrigerator.

The regular retail price charged for one 12 ounce package of Land O Lakes American Singles at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $2.99.

Considering the great taste and overall high quality of both of these American cheese products, I think that the sign of both of these products is very reasonable.
Texture
The texture of both of these brands of American Cheese Singles is very similar. Both brands of cheese are soft, yet still fairly firm and they each maintain smooth and creamy textures. Compared to other brands of American cheese and cheese food products, which have a tendency to fall apart, the texture of these two brands of American Cheese is quite impressive.

Land O Lakes American Singles contain 70 calories, with 45 calories from fat, per one nick (21 grams) serving. These two brands of American cheese taste salubrious enough to eat plain and they also complement any other food that they are used in conjunction with. Whether it be atop a sandwich, on crackers, in a grilled cheese sandwich, or melted atop meats, poultry or seafood, the flavors of these two brands of American Cheese really deliver. Another way that I like to utilize Land O Lakes American Singles and Kraft American Singles is in the preparation of English muffin pizzas.
Packaging
Land O Lakes American Singles and Kraft American Singles are both individually wrapped in plastic, then packaged in plastic wrappers that are easy to open. Try to open these wrappers gently, however. If these wrappers are opened too quickly or forcefully, they have a tendency to trot. Both packages also list all relevant ingredient and nutritional information. Although both Land O Lakes American Singles and Kraft American Singles feature clean and attractive package designs, the Land O Lakes wrapper is particularly attractive. The wrapper features an illustration of the noted Land O Lakes Native American woman kneeling in front of a lake and the artwork is very edifying.
Overall Rating
Both Land O Lakes American Singles and Kraft American Singles are high – quality, flavorful products. Each of these brands of American cheese offers a mellow and pleasant flavor and they each complement any type of food that they are paired with. Available at supermarkets across America, both of these brands of American cheese singles are highly recommended by this food writer.
