This is relatively simple. If you are trying to filter out the completely crazy people from this, you should create a fake screen name or email address. A fake email isn’t as important since you send emails through the websites, but emailing is not as quick or personal as an IM is. Create a fake screen name, so you can chat with them. Do not give them your real screen name until after you’ve met them because that will be the big test.

Step 2: Finding a website

The most important thing you need to do when you attempt to find a website is say to yourself, “What Do I really want,” and then go from there. If you are unprejudiced looking for sex, I would recommend craigslist or plentyoffish (for the non adult dating sites), but the truth is, if you’re smooth and you want to get laid any site will do. Craigslist: Craigslist isn’t really a dating site, and I wouldn’t really pick it seriously if you want to tumble in love. The truth is, I’ve met a few people on craigslist and whenever I post a half-hearted personal ad or copy my match profile, I net about 20 responses. 10 of the responses are almost always the same people, no matter how often I post, 2 or 3 of them are usually people who are honest bored searching for apartments or jobs and came across the personals, and the remaining 3 or 4 people are actually enchanting. Plentyoffish.com. Pros: 1. when you log in, it shows the last 10 people who checked their email within a certain mileage of you.2. The forums there are a great place to get profile advice, as well as a top-notch laugh out of some of the people.3. It has an option to IM people who are currently online.4. It tells you the status of your email to someone (Unread, Unread deleted, Read, Read Deleted, or Replied) so you can tell “Hey they deleted it without reading it, fuck them”Cons1. The search engine is limited2. The people there are some of the weirdest I’ve ever come across.3. People are more commence about being crazy issues infested bitches on here. I really wouldn’t be using this site, but the forums are extremely interesting.

Okcupid This is the best free site out there, but it has a obtain. The catch is that a lot of people there are fair there to take tests, which is fine, but emailing them sometimes results in a “Ha-ha you loser, you’re trying to meet people online.” There is not much else to say about this site, other than its valid and attracts the better people from Okcupid and some of the good paid site people as well. YahooPros:1. If you email someone, it will tell you if you’ve emailed them if you ever click on their name again it will tell you if you’ve previously emailed them.2. Better selection than free dating sites. 3. It allows you to sort your results by distance.4. Cheaper than matchCons1.You can only remove 250 people from a search2.You need to enter a security code to email anyone, making it a long process. 3. Half the people here are also on match.

Match.com

Pros
1. You can delete people from search as soon as you email them, making it a lot easier to not double email someone and there is no limit to the amount of people you block.
2. No security code needed, thus emailing people is a lot faster.
3. A lot more people than the other websites.

Cons
1.It doesn’t tell you if you’ve already emailed someone.
2.You can only wink at a itsy-bitsy amount of people per day.

Eharmony

I’m not going to spend much time talking about this website, other than to say I judge its ridiculously expensive, takes too long to get in contact with people, and is geared towards people who want to marry the next person they meet.

Other sites: American Singles or Friendfinder are the only other dating websites I’d recommend while trying to meet people, although the Jewish community looks highly upon jdate and I know they have sites specifically geared towards gay people, minorities and the like if those appeal to you. Myspace, Facebook, and blog sites are also places you can meet people, but a lot of people there would rather not be bothered.

Step 3: Emailing a person for the first time.

When you start the process and would like to email a person, I highly suggest sending a semi-templated email out. Mine are not obvious because they address the persons profile while having the basic structure already there for you.

Template #1: This gets the most responses because people appreciate to talk about themselves.

Hey there, I really liked your ad. (Mention two reasons why you liked their ad)So what do you think about (A list of 5-10 things not covered in her ad that you would like to know about. I’d suggest 7 things, 5 of them being things you enjoy and 2 being things you don’t like) Follow that sentence up with “I know this is random, but randomness is a great way to start conversation”And finally, ask if they have a conceal name.

Don’t ask for it; just ask if they have it. DO NOT ASSUME THAT BECAUSE THEY DON’T GIVE IT TO YOU IMMEDIATELY THAT THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED. Someone who gives it out immediately is most likely crazy or a whore, so stick with those who are hesitant to give it out.

Template #2: This got the best responses, because people found it to be a good email. This is also a good thing to use as your craigslist post if you decide to post there.

Step 4: Creating a profile

When you go to accomplish a profile, you need to know a few things.

1. Do not talk about video games in your profile. I don’t care if you like them or not, but talking about video games will scare women. Most women recently are fearful of losing the guys attention to a video game.

2. On Okcupid, it asks what you consume your time on Friday nights doing. A goon showed me his profile last night and he made a slightly depressing joke about how he is sometimes out but usually in his warm bed watching the discovery channel. The importance of a personal ad is to sell yourself while being as honest as possible. Small lies like that are not big deals.

3. Post at least 3 pictures. Your primary picture should be a full body shot where you’re obviously posing, and the rest of the pictures don’t really matter.

4. In drop down menus, do not put “Prefer not to say,” because if I survey at the smoking question and leer that I am going to think “Hey she is ashamed of it so she’s trying to avoid the question. At this point, I’ll either block the profile or just send one out saying she smokes.

5.Answer every question. When I advance across a profile that is clearly halfassed, I’m not going to respond. I don’t want to talk to someone who can’t consume the time to write their top 5 movies/music/tv shows etc.

6.Profiles all in capital letters, or with lots of misspellings are turnoffs to a lot of people so type your profile up in MSword before you post it. Don’t post a personal ad saying “I objective left my boyfriend and I am 22 weeks pregnant but I hope that doesn’t scare you,” because nobody is going to respond.

7. Never burn bridges with anyone. If someone emails you and you don’t find them attractive, just email them back and say you met someone. Burning bridges in life is one of the worst things you could possibly do.

8. While it may be important to fill your profile, if you make it too long, it will be glossed over.

9.When you receive an email, always respond with answers to their questions (if you’re interested) and follow up with something to break the ice like….”What is the worst aspect about you.”

10. Pretend you’re on a fucking job interview. Be on your game at all times.

Step 5: Planning a date

Basically, if you’re going to meet someone online or plan on meeting a lot of people, you should do research. Ice Cream Parlors or Coffee shops are a great idea, but the best idea is to meet at a bookstore which has a coffee shop in it. My plan though is this: In Burlington we have a Barnes and Noble with a Starbucks inside it. Next door to B&N is a restaurant and next to that is a movie theater. So I ALWAYS try to meet there. It’s just easy to have a plan in your head of “Hey, we’ll chill in B&N for a bit and then catch dinner and a movie,” but also knowing that you might not get along in person is famous. That is why you should only go somewhere quick for the first time. It alleviates any guilt if you want to destroy it.

Secondly, it helps if you make the meeting place a set within 10-15 minutes of at least one of your friends so if the date goes horribly wrong, you can take a bathroom break and ask for help.

Q: How long should I wait before giving them my screen name, and then trying to meet them? A: Well, I’ve done it all. I’ve received screen names immediately and had failed internet expeditions multiple times. I’ve also found waiting too long gets boring and whatever relationship you’ve built on the internet will falter. Basically 3 months should be your general limit for meeting someone. I would do the email thing for 20 emails or 2 weeks (whichever is first) before going to IM’s and then continuing with the chat for another 2 weeks before getting a phone number. 2 weeks after that is the perfect time to meet because you’ve already had 6 weeks to get to know one another and you can tell what she’s all about. A: Graceful careful. Always meet in a public place. Never give your last name or address until you meet them. Chill in your car until they get to where you’re going to meet them so you can see if they’re actually two guys about to rob you.

I aloof write little notes in cards from time to time, but for the most part if you hear from me, it’s going to be through email or via online instant messaging. The joys of technology! So, let’s get back to the topic at hand, online dating; do you think it’s good or wicked? I find it hard to gain general opinions without researching the facts myself. Last year in the interest of research I signed up for the following online dating services and here are my findings:

E-Harmony.com – I am certain you’ve all seen the commercials where you hear testimony’s of how people found their correct like on e-Harmony. I signed up for a free prance and completed a personality profile that took me at least an hour to complete. After that was done then I began receiving emails regarding possible compatible candidates. I am assuming the owner of this company deemed it necessary to put in place a middle man to insure you were actually getting connected with the person who best beneficial you and your personality. Although I received emails from candidates, I didn’t have the time or patience for the constant back and forth emails via the middle man; therefore I never got to interact personally with anyone.

Match.com – Match’s place was the most diverse and the one that allowed you to instantly interact with the other members. However, that’s not necessarily a good thing. I found that most of the people on this site even if they professed to be a Christian were in search of sexual encounters. Although, there were a few people on this discover that were there strictly for networking purposes or an occasional dinner date. I signed up for 30 days on this peek the cost was around $29.00.

Christiansingles.com – This site was suppose to be for Christian singles searching for other Christian singles, but what I found more than anything on this region were foreigners looking for wives. I would received 2 to 3 pages emails regarding some pastor in Africa or another country seeking a wife. The other thing I found on this site were email scams regarding widows in search of help in the collection of their inheritance by wiring money from their yarn in Africa to yours in America. This was the lest expensive service at the cost of $30.00 or $40.00 for 6 months.

Truechristians.com – Although this site claimed that it was a Christian site, I received hundreds of emails requesting sexual encounters or some other explicit sexual act. I signed up for a 7 day free streak, but the cost of this site is $49.00 per month.

Americansingles.com – American singles was interesting, because once you signed up for the membership, you were able to send and receive instant messages from it’s members. I found this to be the best site for sharing the gospel, because I found that people were hungry for something new in their lives. I never received not one inappropriate email regarding sexual encounters, but I did get many emails requesting prayer and people that just wanted to have someone listen to their heart. This site was $29.00 for 30 days.

In summary, I thought that Match.com gave you access to a more diverse group of people, while Truechristian.com had not one sign of Christians in sight, Christiansingles seemed to be a hub used by mostly scam artist, E-Harmony is okay if you like the idea of big brother setting you up on a date and Americansingles is a great resource to counsel and minister the gospel.

Overall, it was an interesting experiment, but I don’t know that I would go looking for love Online, because there is too much chance for misrepresentation. Plus, you must be careful who you open your heart to, because our adversary is always looking for a crack in the armor in order to dispense havoc in your life. My vote for online dating would have to be more evil than good.

Speed Dating is said to have been invented in 1999 by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Aish HaTorah. It’s taken from a Jewish tradition where single members meet at supervised gatherings. (To help them find other Jewish singles, and not date outside of their faith.) Since that time, Speed Dating has become popular across the world outside of Jewish communities.

A session of Run Dating starts out with an even number group of eligible men and women. A Race Date that’s organized by a business charges each person a fee to participate and sign-up. The business then designates a celebrated area for a specific group of men and women to meet at.

Each person has a name sign, or an identifying number, on their chest and a pen and a scorecard in their hands. Everyone starts out being paired up with a date. A timer is area, and each couple begins their swift date. (The amount of time they are allowed to find to know each other varies. It may be one minute to seven minutes.) They can converse about any subject they settle, except their occupation and where they reside.

Once the minutes are up, the current dates are over. Now, it’s time for each participant to mark their scorecards about the man or woman they just met. The choices are simple: do I want to see him or her again? Or, am I not interested in them?

After a dinky to allow the participants to mark their cards, the men in the group move onto the next woman for their next date. As I said, the rules vary, so sometimes, if there is interest shown between a couple, they are allowed to exchange phone numbers after their date. However, if the Speed Dating session was organized by a business, contact information is usually obtained from the organizers.

The timed Speed Dating intervals keep going on until every man has met every woman.

Since Speed Dating sessions are chaperoned by the organizers, it’s a safe, relatively inexpensive, f-a-s-t way for singles to meet several other singles in unprejudiced an hour or so.

The advocates of Speed Dating point out that this type of dating takes a lot of pressure off of singles by arranging their meetings. And, even if it costs each participant twenty bucks, for example, that’s still cheaper than going to dinner and a movie.
Its advocates also cite that Hurry Dating puts everyone on the same playing field, so the men nor the women have disadvantages over the other sex.

Speed Dating works, they claim, because it’s based on “first impressions” and “body chemistry.”

On the other hand, adversaries of this new arrangement of dating argue that a certain number of minutes aren’t enough time to accurately rate someone. Maybe “Mr. Correct” is “Mr. Wrong”, and vice versa.

Critics also cite that men or women who are looking for that “special someone”, but aren’t comfortable talking to strangers face-to-face aren’t likely to be helped by Speed Dating.

So, is this popular twist on traditional dating right for you? Check your local classifieds for ads, or search the Internet for businesses that specialize in Speed Dating. That’s the only way you’ll find out!

The extremely sensitive Mama’s boy

When you first meet him you will realize you both have something in well-liked. You both love your mom’s a lot.

You won’t really know how worthy he loves his mom until you start hanging around his house a little more. You may start seeing a lot of hugging and cheek kissing going on between them. You may also start seeing his mom smoothing down your boyfriend’s hair or wiping off smudges from his face.

It seems kind of sweet, in an awkward sort of design. Then you may one day make the mistake of asking him to do something for you that will take him more than 30 miles away from his mother, such as a friend’s birthday party, or meeting your family.

Please be advised that the actual moms of mama’s boys will rip apart anything that comes between them and their “little man.” After being berated by “mama,” you will go to you boyfriend, hoping for a little sympathy.

What you will regain may make you mad, but she shouldn’t be surprising. He will always defend his mom. No matter what she says, does, or how she makes you feel. Then if you try to stand up for yourself, he will start crying like a 3-year old, and run out of the room.

The lesson to be learned from this experience is that even though he thinks his mom is cool, yours will always be cooler. She taught you how to be independent and not rely on her to fight all of your battles for you, unless you are the mama’s boy. Then you may only learn that you can shoot snot out of your nose while crying.

The Anal retentive guy

At first he seems perfectly harmless. Okay, so he refuses to go on with his life if a CD or DVD of his is in the wrong place, but that seems sort of cute at first. Then the dating actually starts.

You begin realizing that he won’t open a door unless he has a tissue protecting his hand or won’t even use public condiment containers unless they are rubbed down with wipes. Even after that he still seems harmless.

Then you start noticing he always uses Purell after holding hands. He also seems to like to debate the fact that he can actually taste the inequity between different colored M&M’s.

Should you really be with a man who doesn’t eat certain colored candies because some of them seem “unnatural”?

I wouldn’t say you will learn any profitable traits from him. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself frantically putting your DVD collection back together if it is out of order.

The thug wannabe

This guy is possibly my favorite out of the bunch. I did not personally date any of this type, but they certainly have hit on my so I have experienced some sort of mating ritual with them.

The thug wannabe is someone who things they are so gangsta’ and belong in the ghetto even though they were born and raised in a little suburban town.

His mating dance is one that should be documented by the Discovery Channel (Enter a British voiceover guy). The faux-thug sees his prey sitting at the bar sipping on her drink. He saunters up to her, faking an injury to his hip, he limps closer to the bar. The faux-thug believes that the limp enhances his sexual appeal.

As the faux-thug slides up to the female at the bar, he slings his arm around her shoulder and recites his mating call, “Hey shawty. What is your heavenly ass doing sitting here all by yourself? ”

The female, visibly disgusted and disinterested, responds violently, “Who the hell do you think you are, putting your hands all over me like that? Why don’t you pull up your pants, wear your hat the right way, and learn some class. Come back to me in a year either when you learn to talk to a lady, or after you live in a right ghetto and get beat down by a real gangsta’ to learn some humility.”

The faux-thug, embarrassed by the failed attempt to mate, retreats to the safety of his Camaro.

I know a accurate lady wouldn’t speak like that to anyone no matter how much they were tempted, but a normal female who is provoked normally can’t control the kind of things that approach out of her mouth. Especially when he can be taken down a notch and actually been given a reason to limp.

What should be learned from this type is something you will live with for the rest of your life. Years ago, it would be the polite thing to say “no thanks.” This normally doesn’t work.

You can let your voice be heard better while just saying no (or in my case, add a few explicatives). It will also make an interesting fable to tell your friends.

“People don’t want to go to these events alone,” Nancy says. “If somebody finds a relationship through our group, that’s great. If not, they still have friends and their lives still have a purpose.”

In fact, a Single Purpose entourage more often will include six or seven or eight people, rather than just a twosome.

Google searches for “Christian singles groups” almost exclusively show dating clubs that promote one-on-one relationships, rather than social groups of Nancy’s type with less emphasis on romance. No national organization exists to coordinate these groups, according to various articles written in metropolitan newspapers.

Nancy and her creative co-organizers have fine-tuned a group that seems to preserve the singles even more active than a whole lot of couples out there. Ages run the gamut from the 20s into the 70s.

The former Nancy Cradit is a 1964 Saginaw High School graduate whose husband, Harry French, never was the same after he fought in Vietnam. She lost him in 1984. She roomed with cousins for a while and gave her love to her only son, who since has given her three grandchildren.

Nancy has teamed up in leadership with Pam Robinson of Bay City, a divorcee for nearly 20 years.

“We get so grand security from this. If we have a problem, we know we’re not alone and that we can whisper ourselves,” says Pam, a 1979 grad of the former Bay City Handy High School.

“We are all living lives that we didn’t choose to have. To support going, we need to effect that one foot in front of the other by going to meetings, going to events. When was first divorced, I didn’t realize right away that I had a form of depression going. But this group changed my life and made me a better person.”

Our visit is on a Bible Study night, and the first focus is on prayer requests. One member faces surgery for an aneurism, another has been ripped off on a roofing home repair job, and a third can’t figure out how to remove mountains of plowed snow from a sidewalk.

Next comes the theme song that Nancy composed: “We have a Single Purpose, and it’s all we need. Jesus saved us, and it’s Him we heed. All our lives are
joined in one accord. Joyfully serving and praising our Lord.”

She asks members if they have prepared testimonials for the upcoming conference. Judy reads hers aloud and draws praise. Others chuckle and ask if
Judy will write theirs as well. “I wasn’t an English teacher,” she responds. “This took me two days!”

Pastor Jerry Larkin of Burt Baptist Church speaks on the theme of “hope.” He urges that faith be maintained no matter what, similar to “rejoicing in the middle of the storm.”

Upon Pastor Larkin’s conclusion, Judy says that she can’t wait on but ask questions, even with her strong faith. She is concerned not only with her own family, but with a co-worker who is at risk of losing the family’s home to foreclosure.

“It’s OK to be worried about it, isn’t it? ” she asks.

Pastor Larkin answers that faith should overcome worry, and that “God does not always provide the answers we want, when we want them.” He also states the parable that eagles fly the highest when they are flying against the wind.

Judy laments that she “just can’t encourage it, because I’m a worrier.” Susan answers that Judy should simply listen to friends’ tribulations, explaining, “You don’t have to do anything, just listen.”

After about an hour, the discussion wraps up. Nancy again asks for testimonials for the conference. An older fellow asks, “Is that to say, I should write, why am I single? ” Laughter resounds from around the circle.

FINDING A NEW LIFE
Nancy and Pam define later that few people go immediately from a personal loss, be it death or divorce, into a support group. Often years pass.

Pam operates Robin’s Nest Day Care after raising three children of her maintain.

“As a single mom, you wind up in your children’s world until they get older,” Pam says. “I feel like I’ve really honest been a single adult for these past few years, and this is where the Single Purpose group has made such a difference. Suddenly I get to be ‘Pam’ again. This is happening at the right time in my life.”

Nancy has made it through a major car crash and has battled cancer into remission, although seizures still can be an issue.

“When I was in the hospital, about 15 people went to my home and cleaned out the garage, washed the windows, vacuumed the carpet,” Nancy says.

“There have been similar projects done for other members. Often times our group discusses the ‘love languages of singles.’ This is what our group is all about.

Once you get to know the core of someone and are comfortable with them, then you can address the sex thing. Men, patience is a virtue in this online dating arena.

5. Be honest – Lies always seem to come out in the slay, particularly at an inopportune or embarrassing time. Be upfront at all times. That way, you don’t have to juggle all the lies you tell. Besides, honesty in a relationship keeps stress levels down.

Looking for love online is not particularly hard for men; however, it does take patience. By thinking logically with your head and then with your heart once you meet someone, you will do just fine.

The fragile confidence it takes to promote yourself as potential mate is often thwarted by societies disdain for overweight people. Larger people may be too shy to approach others in very public and social situations and others attracted to large people may be too shy to approach them. As if we walk around society with the proverbial scarlet BBW letters on our clothes. Women, especially conservative ones, often wait for potential mates to approach them and get themselves waiting a very long time. If you are large woman reading this, you may identify. After talking with people about their own experiences, I was astounded at the number of friends, family members and their acquaintances relaying stories of how they met their boyfriends, girlfriends or now spouses from online dating. The online dating community has exploded in recent years. Once a taboo avenue for finding a mate, now has become so popular that it is almost common place. If it was not for one of my good friends that I respect very much telling me his story of how he and his wife met through a dating chat room online, I would never have explored this world on my own. I was eager to do my possess research yet very cautious to keep my identity safe until I felt comfortable with people enough to take the steps towards an actual in person date.

As a starting point, I went to http://www.craigslist.org (CL) which I had used a thousand times before for buying and selling items as well as looking for apartments to rent. If you are curious and keen in trying online dating for the first time, browse all the different sites available and find one that matches your needs. There are a number of options to finding adore, companionship, intimacy and romance in this new millennium. I am hopeful for myself and believe I am finally ready to give cherish and let myself be loved in returned. I have been on 3 dates thus far after many online email exchanges, sincere and current photo swaps for honesty sake and phone conversations. Each time I met them in very public places and told others, trusted friends and family, about the dates so I didn’t feel I was going it alone. A lawyer who was nice and had a very engrossing career and seemed very responsible. He seems like a very good man, quiet and serious. I am still looking but I have made dinner plans with date number two and continue to email and phone date number three.

As advice to anyone contemplating online dating for the first time, be well prepared to actually have something to say to people. Write down your interests, your travels and hobbies as reference material. Think of short stories within your life to direct. If it helps, win an honest assessment of your likes and dislikes and do not compromise. I hate seafood, therefore if someone suggested to take me out to a seafood restaurant I would kindly refuse then offer one of my approved places to go. Now, of course there are a number of expensive places I would like to try but would not like to take advantage of this new dates wallet. I would be honest and tell them the truth that they were places on my list but not places I frequent. Men are just as insecure about their bank accounts as women are about their hips. Be realistic about your expectations but then again don’t choose for Taco Bell unless Taco Bell is your favorite restaurant. Honesty here is the best policy to finding people that really match you. Also, think about things you would like to do. I never knew there were so many people out there that were scuba divers! It’s insane want people write. For my profile, most of the people responded because they said mine was the most honest sounding, thunder and down to earth.

If someone would have told me a year ago I would be going out on multiple dates within the span of a month I would have laughed at the thought. Now, I just wonder what took me so long to peer that I deserve these suitors. In the end, maybe you will even acquire more friends.

-Have a Marathon with Your Favorite Multi-Player Game – There are plenty of people out there from different countries that haven’t even heard of Valentine’s Day. Connect with them and go run a few campaigns while the couples of the world foolishly waste their time with boring reality.

-Cruise Around Dating Websites – If all else fails, try and remedy your single status by connecting with other singles out there. Dating websites are great for having casual conversations without the awkwardness of a blind date. Who knows, maybe you’ll rep the person of your dreamsor learn there are worse things than being single.

On the flip side, here are some things to avoid doing on Valentine’s Day:

-Blind Dates – A blind date on Valentine’s Day will have runt to no success. A blind date is awkward enough without all the couples around you cuddling, spoon feeding each other, and maybe throwing in a few proposals. Go out another time.

-Bars – If you are feeling down about your single status, avoid the bars! We tend to drink more when we are upset, which will either lead to you crying hysterically in front of complete strangers or a dreaded hook-up that wouldn’t have made your radar any other time.

-Calling the “Ex” to Hang Out – Do I really need to elaborate? There is a reason they are an ex.

-Being Alone – Never be alone if you are feeling down. Call up an old friend to catch up or go see a movie.

With over 10 years of online dating under my belt, I have become an expert on relationships and giving advice on how to successfully date.

Rule 1: Honesty on the web.
It’s principal to remember that the men you are meeting are in fact strangers, no matter how much time you expend talking to them via email, chat or by phone. And, until you meet in person and employ many months of together time, they are still strangers who may be lying and not being completely truthful about any number of things. These things may include: age, marital status, physical appearance, personality traits, lifestyle, values, etc. Because of this, I always encourage my readers to take what is said with a grain of salt until you can verify the facts for yourself through in person time spent together.

Fair as famous as watching for their honesty is making definite you are honest about yourself too. Don’t lie about your age, looks, interests or lifestyle. Consume a current picture of yourself or update your feeble one. That is the #1 turn off to men because they want to meet the real person that they have been talking to. Don’t transform yourself into something you are not. If you are not unbiased with them, you may waste a potential relationship from even starting. Don’t be fearful of being yourself. You are a fun person worth getting to know. If they don’t like who you really are, then they are not for you and you can go on to someone who likes you just the way you are. (And those men ARE out there!)

Rule 2: Be selective with providing your personal information
Do not provide a last name, home or work address until you have gotten to know him better and can be certain he is trustworthy. And, use a different email address for people you meet through dating sites or chatrooms specifically for those types of interactions.

Rule 3: Meet in a public place
When you meet, always meet in a public place and tell friends and family where you will be. Always have your own form of transportation to and from the location. Do not meet for the first time for drinks which can severely impair your judgment and create an unsafe situation. And remember, dress nice but appropriately, and smile. Enjoy yourself!

Rule 4: Pay attention to the details.
How much about him and his life do you really know? Ask questions and always pay attention to any inconsistencies or story changes. If a person claims to be single, then watch out for signs that confirm or state this. Do they provide a cell phone or a home number? Usually, a person who will not provide a home number is withholding it for a reason, such as having a live in partner or girl/boyfriend who visits or stays over often.

Do you know where they work? Can you visit them at their home? If they only want to meet you at your region or in a social setting, then that’s a clear indication that they are not single.

Rule 5: Protect yourself emotionally
So often, I meet people who allow themselves to get emotionally attached to an online guy/girl before meeting them and I cannot stress enough how dangerous that can be. First of all, this person may not be who they claim to be in their picture or emails. Even if they are genuine, their online personality may be different than the one you meet in person. It’s really easy to get carried away by words promising a future of a relationship, just to meet and have the person not be ready to deliver on the intensity of those emotions. So, please take things slowly and get to know them in person before developing too strong of an attachment.

Dating is a risk. Some dates will lead to relationships and others will not due to lack of physical chemistry or other incompatibilities. It’s all part of the experience. And, by not getting too attached in the beginning, you don’t set yourself up for disappointment.

Rule 6: Date with integrity
Women ask how to improve their chances of having more successful dates and I always say to date with integrity. It starts with self-love and knowing that you are essential enough to be treated like a princess. Believe that about yourself and you will be well on your way to attracting better guys. Never score dates from men who are married or in another relationship. This normally goes without saying but I can’t begin to tell you how many women think that he will leave his significant other for her or that stay with a man even after he has lied to her about being single. None of these scenarios ever works out well and lead to a waste of your time where you could be meeting a guy who will make you the romantic priority.

Rule 7: Watch out for premature sexual intimacy
The majority of men report that women who sleep with them on the first date or really early on in the dating process are not women that they normally want to form lasting relationships with. It does not make them feel special since it was too easily gained. Men like the thrill of the hunt, or chase, if you will. They like what they must work at to attain. As such, it is in your favor to wait a while until you are certain there is a real relationship here before moving into sexual intimacy. Sexual intimacy too soon into the dating process speeds up the development of feelings and attachment when no relationship may have been created yet. You are worth the wait and if he is the good guy for you, he will respect that. If you take your time before getting too physical, you can confirm that he is sticking around for the right reasons and not just a booty call.

Rule 8: Long distance relationships
There are many success stories of people meeting on the web who live far apart that have worked out. However, to be safe and create a more find dating experience, it’s best to meet people who live in your area. First of all, you get to see them more often which creates a deeper bond. Secondly, you can verify their information to see that they are in fact what they claim to be. Thirdly, you will be incurring more expense to have this type of relationship by having to finance trips to sight him, the long distance phone bills, etc.

Often the distance and inability to see each other frequently leads to the person either not wanting to invest too much time in a relationship or they may even meet someone closer to them in the interim. At some point, if you settle to still get involved in this type of relationship, one of you will have to relocate to make it work or it ends due to the hardships that come with the distance. So, to avoid all of that, stick with dating in your area. It will ultimately be easier on your pocketbook and heart.

Rule 9: Watch out for signs of abuse or addictions
Whether it’s a temper, violence, jealousy, control issues, verbal abuse, drinking or drugs, please discover for signs of issues in the guy that may lead to a toxic relationship. Don’t think you can change him if he exhibits any signs of abuse. Just walk away and don’t look back. If he is condescending, puts you down, or does not take your feelings into account, then he is not the right guy for you.

Rule 10: Maintain your individuality
First things first, do sure you are really ready to initiate dating and not just looking for someone to complete or fulfill a void in your life. Men are attracted to women who are happy, independent and have outside interests.
Make sure that when you are intially dating, that you absorb your boundaries by not smothering and over-calling. Let things slowly. Acquire your individuality and independence by continuing to spend time with your friends, and are enthusiastic in the interests and hobbies that were a part of your life before he entered the picture. People can be timid off by too distinguished attention or creating a situation where you tumble all of your outside interests just to spend all of your time with him. Remember, men can come and go, but friends and the interests that made you the person that you are today will be there to cease. Don’t alienate your friends and family when you are dating. You’ll need to gain your lifeline to these people and activities for support should the relationship not work out.

Rule 11: Premature declarations of love
True worship takes time to develop, often many months to even a year. So, be wary of any guy who tells you they love you from the very beginning. They may be desperate just to have any relationship or may be a player who throws the words around without really meaning them.

Rule 12: Protect your assets
Never EVER give out your bank memoir information, debit card or give money to someone you barely know or have been dating for a short period of time. Don’t buy them expensive gifts, give them cellphones or attach their bills in your name. You are not their mommy or sugar mamma and they should be supporting themselves. If they ask you for any of these things, run, don’t walk to the nearest exit.

Rule 13: Keep your skeletons in the closet
When you first get to know someone, it’s easy to want to spill the beans about your past, your exes, and everything in between. Keep it light and fun. Talk about your hobbies, interests, events you’ve participated in and your positive traits. If he is worth getting to know and forming a relationship with, then he will be around to hear all of your not so great stories. Some men are scared off by too much emotional baggage in the beginning. So, hold off on the drama and heart to hearts. They are not involved in hearing why your last relationship hit the skids or why you have trust issues. Stick with the positives about your life and then after meeting and spending time together, if he is interested, the mysteries of what makes you you will unfold in time. Plus, it’s more interesting that way, don’t you mediate?

Rule 14: Dating behavior
Last minute dates: Never accept dates at the last minute. If a guy asks you out at the last miniature, have the self-confidence to say that you already have plans and would esteem to take a raincheck. It will show the guy that your time is critical and if they want to spend it with you, they have to make plans in advance.

Being on time: If he is continuously gradual in picking you up, then that is a develop of disrespect and insist him so. If he doesn’t change, drop him like a hot potato.

Going dutch: Never go dutch. I feel that if a guy asks you out, that he should be the one to pay. If he doesn’t, kick him to the curb because he’s too cheap to be a honorable candidate for a real relationship.

Courting Details: Pay attention to the ways in which he courts you. Does he bring flowers, leave you nice notes or emails? How does he go out of his way to produce you feel special? Is the attention he gives you constant or sporadic? Does he follow through on set plans and phone calls? Is the pain to invest time and attention to the relationship mutual? Or do you accumulate yourself doing most of the work to plan the dates or see him? If his behavior is flaky or lacking special treatment from the get go, it is a clear indicator of what you can inquire from him in the future.
Most men are on their best behavior during the first few months of dating. It is after the “honeymoon phase” is over and the newness of being with you wears off that you really see his true colors and whether he has the staying power to really make you gratified in a long term relationship.

Incorporating you into his life: Another important aspect worth discussing is the inconvenience made to progress the relationship to the next level. Does he take the time to incorporate you into his life? Have you met his friends and family? If he does not return your calls for a few days, does not introduce you to the people in his life, makes excuses to leer you frequently or disappears, really evaluate what you are doing with a guy like that. He may not be as into you as you think. Bottom line is, he is not putting you first and you need to set yourself first by moving on to someone who will.

Rule 15: Know when to cut your losses and move on
A date can appear to be going extremely well but then you don’t get the call support. Or, you may go on a few dates for even a few weeks and then the guy pulls the primitive disappearing act or says he does not want to gaze you anymore. Leaves you confused and frustrated right? That’s why it’s important to read rule #5 where I discuss protecting yourself from getting too attached too soon emotionally. There could be any number of reasons why the dating relationship does not progress. Some of these include him not being ready for a commitment, is scared of getting too close to anyone, is going through a rebound period from a recent relationship, is a player who dates many women, got back together with an ex, realized that you two are not as compatible as he first thought and too many others to name in this article. No matter what the reason, realize that this will happen and not to let it break you or make you stop trying to date new people. It is just the process we must all go through that will eventually lead us to the right person for ourselves.

By the same token, if you realize that a dating relationship is not going in the direction that you would like, don’t keep wasting your time trying to force something that is not there. If he tells you he only wants something casual and you want something uncommon or long term, don’t keep seeing him, calling him or prolonging a set that is not conducive to your happiness. Giving him time is not going to change a man who knows early on he does not want to invest in you. So, start investing in yourself. Learn to slash your losses and move on to new people that can meet your needs. Life is too short to settle. Remember, no one is going to look out for your needs as good as you will. Go for the gusto and be more proactive in creating the romantic life you seek by being selective in who you date, how you are treated and evaluate where it is ultimately going.

Rule 16: Trust your intuition
No matter what, always trust your instincts. You were born with them for a reason. If something does feel right, there is usually a reason. Be good to yourself and occupy your time with the dating process. You will know what feels right to you and who you click with if you listen to your inner voice of reason. Also, don’t neglect the advice and insights of friends and family either. They may see an aspect of that person that you may not because you are too fervent in the relationship.

Rule 17: Our thoughts shape our reality
Ever heard the expression, you get what you send out? Well, it’s true. To attract great people into our lives, we must be healthy within and without. We must love ourselves more than we love anyone else and believe that we deserve the best. We must also not accept bad behavior or disrespect on any level. When we focus our thoughts on what we want, rather than what we do not, we send out a message to the Universe that we are ready for true change on a soul level.

Many women attract relationship patterns because of lessons they have not learned from the previous relationship or are attracting to their life something that they lack in themselves. Do the self-work to become happy with yourself and then begin to seek out new relationships. If you need to get some therapy before jumping back into the dating scene to help you move on from an issue or blockage, then do so. Learn from previous experiences so that you grow stronger and learn what to look out for and avoid in your future.

Put your best foot forward by knowing who you are and letting that wonderful person shine through. At the end of the day, you are the greatest prize and the right guy will treat you the way you think you deserve to be treated.
